[blockquote]I absolutely believe that people, unless coached, never reach their maximum capabilities.

Bob Nardelli, former CEO, Home Depot[/blockquote]

Company executives, managers on the rise and business owners all face many challenges in the ever-changing business world that continually pushes them to stretch their leadership capabilities to the max.  You’re faced with the daily task to develop and grow a world-class product or service team.  You tackle driving business results and creating a sustainable return on investment.   You’re expected to be a high achiever who on a day by day basis delivers results for both your internal and external customers.  You’re essentially tasked with being a super hero.

However, how does a super hero, aka company leader, develop these powers?  Through the guidance, support and motivation of an executive coach.

An executive coach is part advisor, part sounding board, part cheerleader, part manager and part strategist.  Executive coaching isn’t for everyone.  It’s for people who value clear-cut feedback.  It’s for corporate leaders who want someone to help them be extremely results-oriented.  It’s for managers who want to have someone hold them firmly accountable for taking their career to the next level.

What benefits have major organizations derived from hiring executive coaches?

  • In one study, executive coaching at Booz Allen Hamilton returned $7.90 for every $1 the organization spent on coaching.
  • According to Harvard Business Review, many of the World’s most admired corporations, from GE to Goldman Sachs, invest in coaching.  Annual spending on coaching in the US is estimated at roughly $1 billion dollars.
  • Fortune Magazine cited a study that showed that training alone improved leadership skills by 22%.  When combined with executive coaching, improvements jumped to 77%.
  • In research conducted over the past 3 years, IBM discovered that leaders who were coached had the better business results.
